On Tuesday at Parx, the track will host the $75,000 Auld Lang Syne Stakes. Scheduled to be run at a mile and seventy yards on the main track, the race has drawn a field of nine.
Topping the competitive field at morning line odds of 5-2 is Easter Gift for trainer Chad Brown. A five-year-old son of Hard Spun, he has won seven of his eighteen starts and was last seen finishing fifth in the Clark (G1). He earned his only win of the year two starts back against optional claiming competition at Belmont and is a perfect three for three at Parx. Irad Ortiz, Jr. will be aboard and they will break from post position five.
Ever Rider (ARG) trying to rebound after Hawthorne Gold Cup
Second choice at 7-2 on the morning line is Ever Rider (ARG) for trainer Marya Montoya. The six-year-old Argentinian-bred has been on the board in six of his ten starts this year and has a minor stakes victory to his credit. He was fifth after a rough trip in the Hawthorne Gold Cup (G2) last time out. Frankie Pennington, aboard for his last start, has retained the mount and they are scheduled to break from post position eight.
Local contender Classic Giacnroll going for first stakes win
Also in the field at morning line odds of 8-1 is the locally based runner Classic Giacnroll for trainer Lisa Guerrero. All three of his career victories have come at Parx and the three-year-old son of Giacamo is going for his first stakes victory. He won an optional claiming race last time out as the heavy favorite and has been training steadily since then. J.D. Acosta will be aboard and they are slated to break from the rail.
