2016 United Nations Stakes Contenders
The field has been set for the 2016 edition of the United Nations Stakes and the summer staple at Monmouth Park has attracted some of the top turf horses in the country.
Chad Brown, a perennial powerhouse in turf races, will saddle three contenders including the 5-2 morning line favorite Wake Forest (GER). After beginning his career in Europe, he has hit his best stride this year since joining the Brown barn and is coming out of an authoritative win in the Man o’ War Stakes (G1). In addition to Wake Forest (GER), Brown will be sending out Mr. Maybe at 4-1 and Money Multiplier at 8-1. Mr. Maybe has been steadily climbing the class ladder and was third last time out in the Mac Diarmida Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park.
Wake Forest (GER) may find the greatest challenge from World Approval, the second choice at odds of 3-1. The gelding is a half-brother to hard-knocking veteran stakes winner Za Approval and has proven to be as consistent and tough as his older sibling. He was third last time out in the Manhattan Stakes (G1) and has been knocking on the door of a major victory.
