Canadian Star Deceptive Vision Tops Field for $500,000 E.P. Taylor
On Sunday at Woodbine, fillies and mares will take center stage in the 58th edition of the $500,000 E.P. Taylor Stakes. The Grade 1 race will be run at a mile and a quarter on the turf and has drawn an international field of eight.
Headlining the field at morning line odds of 2-1 is the locally based, Canadian-bred Deceptive Vision. Trained by Malcolm Pierce, the Sam-Son Farm homebred daughter of A.P. Indy has been on the board in all seven of her career starts and most recently earned her first graded stakes win in the Canadian (G2) in September. Eurico Da Silva, aboard last time out, has retained the mount and they are scheduled to break from post position six.
Just the Judge (IRE) going for first win of the year
Second choice at 7-5 on the morning line is Just the Judge (IRE) who will be making her second North American start after finishing third in the Beverly D. (G1) at Arlington. Trained by Charles Hill and ridden by Jamie Spencer, the four-year-old daughter of Lawman (FR) is winless from four starts this year. As a three-year-old, she won the prestigious Irish 1000 Guineas (G1). She is going for the fifth win of her career and will break from post three.
North American debut for Eyeful (GB) after second win
Also in the field and tabbed as a longshot at 20-1 on the morning line is Eyeful (GB) who will be making her North American debut for Andre Fabre. A three-year-old daughter of Muhtathir (GB) owned and bred by Wertheimer et Frere,, the bay filly has won two of her seven starts in France. She was last seen defeating a field of nine rivals in the Prix Coronation Stakes by a neck and will break from the rail under jockey Flavien Prat.
