$50,000 Golden Beach Handicap Draws Field of Ten
On Wednesday at Gulfstream Park, the featured race is the $50,000 Golden Beach Handicap. Restricted to three-year-old fillies, the one-mile race has drawn a field of ten.
Light Bringer has been installed as the morning line favorite in the wide-open affair at odds of 4-1 for trainer William White. Bred and owned by Vegso Racing Stable, the bay daughter of Northern Afleet has won three of her seven starts including a minor stakes win. She is returning off of a ten-month layoff and has been on the shelf since finishing third in the Suncoast Stakes at Tampa in February. Jonathan Gonzales will be back aboard and they will break from post nine.
White legend trying for first stakes victory
Second choice at 9-2 on the morning line is White Legend for trainer Antonio Sano. Purchased as a juvenile for $75,000, the gray daughter of Indygo Shiner is going for the first stakes win of her career after winning against optional claiming competition last time out. She has won two of her ten starts and has been on the board six times. Jesus Rios, aboard for her most recent victory, has retained the mount and will break from post position three.
Stakes debut for well-bred U.S.S. O'Brien
Also in the field at 5-1 on the morning line is U.S.S. O’Brien for trainer Kathy Ritvo. Purchased for $130,000 as a yearling, the bay daughter of prominent sire Empire Maker will be making her stakes debut after earning her second career victory last time out. She has been training steadily since that win and has been on the board in six of her eight career outings. Manoel Cruz, aboard last time out, will be back in the irons and they will break from the outside post.
